What do you all think of LS Kodomo: Serenity...LS's first msd sized doll:

I'm not really too far into the doll community, not even a member of doa,

I was one of the people who bought 1 of ls's Pear heads that mismatched it's body. due to all this crap that's happened, I more and likely will not keep the pear head, but I did take a few pics for comparison for ls when she sent me her prototype head. and I know she's been really busy with moving into a larger house, her baby, and all the other crazy stuff that's been happening to her. she's been mia from the internet for a few months and I heard from the cosplay crew she was just in the hospital again.
but I seriously believe these photo's really need to be here asap, so I'm, posting the side by side lineup that I sent to ls....shows 5 different views of BOTH heads together:

I've sent this image of the lineup comparison to ls along with all the separate files and a couple others, these pics show pretty well that Ls's head is not a modded copy like the false slander that's going around says.

There are obvious differences between the two heads. but I think I'll let ls post more in detail as to what is obviously different.

I honestly told ls she should go after the moc and ae companies as well as dod for the false slander they've put against her, especially being that they had no physical evidence, just a few photoshop layovers done by people that have hated ls long before this ever happened. but ls told me back in feb, that she was so sick and tired of a guilty until proven innocent community and that fact that no matter what she did or said or proved it's not like she can ever get back on doa anymore and that she has more important things to do, like taking care of her child, moving into a new home, and getting healthy again among other things. it's a shame really, as I was just an anime convention hopper and it was ls that introduced me to bjd's and now that I'm starting to get interested in them, the one who got me into them now doesn't want to do what she loves anymore.

well I've said my peace and I'm just glad now that this evidence is now up, hopefully ls will get back on her site and fill in the rest of the blanks on the "doa scandal/nasty email she got from the new doa owner" and all the other drama surrounding this terrible incident.

Sure they look similar. But it's not a copy. I could just as easily lump certain volks sweet dream versions in there when it comes to dolls looking similar. (yui for size, but if you want a bigger but similar style take a look at swd nana.)

Just noting the differences that I can see off the top of my head:

LS's neck to base of head is straighter, whereas Pear has a "dent" in her.
LS's has lower cheekbones and a loner nose, whereas Pear has fuller, higher cheeks.
LS's chin (profile) is pointier and extends outwards, where as Pear comes inwards and curves.
LS's lips are more defined (profile) than Pear's, also spread slightly more.
LS's has a wider face (profile) than Pear's.
LS has less ear detail than Pear.
LS's ear is shaped different than Pear's.
It looks like LS's head is BIGGER (taller) than Pear. (in recasting you shrink.)

Thank you for posting the photos, they are similar, but you can tell they are two separate sculpts. Have MIC or whoever made the Pear seen these photos yet? I doubt DOA would budge, but maybe they will.

I was told by a cosplay buddy of mine she was in the hospital for possible appendicitis. I think she's ok though.

as for moc and doa, neither will budge. armeleia told ls straight out she would never be allowed back on doa no matter what she did or proved and she also said that moc and ae would never retract those false statements either, I'm tempted to post the email that armeleia sent to ls, but I really think ls should post it, I'm going to call her tonight to try and get her to come back to her forum and make a public post on what has happened over the past few months. she's been away for too long and from what I see here she's missed.

and I'll find out how she's doing as well, I hope she is well or at least recovering well. she is a tough cookie so I'm sure she's ok. but it doesn't hurt to check in on her now and then.

I really hope that she'll make her msd doll as she is very very beautiful and she's really my type of doll. and I really hope she continues with her msd line as I was hoping for a larger eyed cutie made by ls one day.

LS was recently referred to the hospital ER by her doctor for tests (CT scan and ultrasound) for suspected appendicitis. She did not have appendicitis and is doing just fine. This happened weeks ago.

I have a feeling that whatever proof LS gives for the Serenity doll (or any of her dolls for that matter) is not going to satisfy her loudest detractors because they are dead set on ignoring any evidence. They seem to have never heard of the golden ratio, which is why every doll head and every pretty face at the basic level is going to look the damn same. The eyes, nose and mouth have only slight variations in where they can be placed, shaped and sized to be aesthetically pleasing. But I digress, since no matter what proof is given or whatever rational arguments are presented it's not going to change anyone's mind.

From talking with LS I gather that she plans on continuing her MSD sized dolls and sculpting new chibi sized heads.

So good to hear LS is OK. I do hope she will start posting again, there are lots of people out here who love her and her work, no need to let a few spoil everything. I don't even want to know anymore about the whole mess that MOC started and would probably be better for LS to just let it be and move on with her life and dolls. Past is past, focus on the now and all will be OK.

As far as I know, MOC did not start this. I don't know who did, I just figure someone took some overlays and either sent them to AE or sent them through MOC to AE. AE then published the accusation and MOC posted that up in return. I'm sure that AE just wanted to protect it's creative/intellectual property, which they have every right to do.

The problem lies in the "proof" being photos-which can be manipulated. True hard proof is physical comparison, not photos. Real proof I think is more like what came out in the whole Dollshe/Dollmore thing- photos next to each other, although in that case they also had pictures showing the unfinished insides of the doll parts.

Another thing that I don't quite understand is...and this is going from my understanding of molding and casting- the size discrepancy. If LS took a Pear head, modded it a little, sanded off a lip and added a new one...shouldn't they be the same size just about? (Although since she sold the Pear head it seems to be obvious that this didn't happen). If she had done that and then did a mold and cast of the work, wouldn't it be smaller since there is cast shrinkage? Or if she took the Pear head and did a straight mold and cast and then modded that, shouldn't it still be smaller? Unless of course she managed to very skillfully layer Apoxie over it to make it bigger, but then the proof would require showing distinct difference in a cut showing separate resin and then apoxie layers. Right?

I tried to see what would happen if I overlayed images myself- I used the comparison image above and cut out an image of Pear and an image of Serenity. I flipped Serenity to match the facing direction. The only other editing I did was to trace around Pear in red and Serenity in green. While I can get certain features to seemingly match up, I can never get them all to match...so I just left this image with the ears on the left side aligned.

Something LS is working on for her MSD dolls. She is also going to be making the rude hand for yosd too, at some point in the future.
